in response to Jamaicadon...   I think it stinks that we have explain that to our kids. How do we enforce positive outlooks for the future when all around us if failing. I don'thave anything for Christmas this year either, mine is 14 soon, but he doesn't understnad because he is disabled. Can't buy anythign becaue gas is $3.25 a gal.
why not write to all the congressman and ask them for holiday assistance? i am sorry about everyone's situations, I always wish I could help others. I hope that everyone at least feels what Christmas is. do something really special that free, like a movie at home no cell phones etc.... Best of luck. Many don't always know that holidays will be bad and agencies all know in August who they will help. it really isn't who needs it or deserves it the most, unfortunately and any contests out there are many who don'treally need help.

god bless you all

In reading your post, I would only worry about the 4 year old. The others are old enough to understand that in life there will be hard times and this year there will not be any presents. As long as there is food on the table, they will be okay. Of all my 4 kids the only one who will be getting a present is the 11 year old, and thank God he only wants sketch books, crayons and pencil grippers. Explain to them that this Christmas you do not have it, but when you get some money, they will get the presents they want. That is how we deal with our kids growing up. When we had it they would get what they wanted, but when we where short of cash, we would explain the circumstances and they would understand.
